Ice Capades
The Monday after Christmas, we took the girls downtown to the temporary outdoor ice rink. We had the best time! Both girls were so excited to have real skates. They both laced up and hit the ice without any hesitation. We skated for over 2 hours and only quit once my arms gave out (from keeping them upright).
Gearing up!
Look at those cute little skates
Come on, Mom and Dad. Lace up - we are ready to rumble!
First lap around - instant smiles, even after falling
Hadley kept saying "Faster Mommy!"
Off with the gloves - too warm and sunny to need them
Looks to me like Mallory is helping Clint balance - not the other way around!
Grandad had to get in on the action. He thinks he was the oldest guy on the ice.
We had to take a break to the let the Zambonie do its job.
Lap 100+? By the end Mallory was skating so well!
Mallory had great control by the end. The last two laps were fast and fall-free.
Nifty Fifty
I received a fun new lens for my camera - "the Nifty Fifty" as I was told it is called. Below are some shots as I learn how to better use the lens.
Clint - I told him this is what he looks like to me - the little eye squint seems to help him better explain stuff. :)
Mallory was staring at the Christmas tree - I think mainly it was an "I am tired" stare.
Does she look like a Mini Clint here, using her hands to talk??
Mallory and Amira
Breakfast the next morning - Mallory, Clint and David were in charge of the meal.
Winter Wonderland
We trekked through the Blizzard of 2009 to get to Oklahoma late on Christmas Day. The first half of the day was spent at Grandad and Grancy's (after emergency runs to Target and Payless for pants and boots).
Mallory shares our homemade and hand decorated sugar cookies with the crowd.
Hadley and Mallory were very interested to see which cookie Mima would pick
The snow angels!
Ker-
-plop! Hadley loved sitting in the snow.
Nothing like a little rear exposure to help you really get into the cold snow!
Snowball fight - girl style.
Grandad came out to supervise
Uncle David shows the girls how a real snow ball fight goes down
Check out my Mima!
Hadley - in her new nightgown, very sad because she was SO tired!
Christmas Morn
First, a little peek into Santa's handy work...
A new play table and chairs! Finally!
The playroom enhanced with new Puppet Theatre, new table and new easle
Looks like Santa found our house with no trouble!
6:45am, not too shabby! (Hadley is carrying her leotard)
Chapter books!
Stocking haul
A little advice from big sister
The easel is big enough for 2, thank goodness
